Partnering with the Flint Youth Theatre to Discuss Bullying

The Flint Youth Theatre recently partnered with the Michigan Youth Violence Prevention Center to talk to youth about bullying. The Flint Youth Theatre production The Hundred Dresses by Mary Hall Surface, based on the Newbery Honor Book by Eleanor Estes, was presented to groups of children as part of the FYT’s 2012-2013 series. Two talkback sessions were held after the performances where YES staff joined select cast members to answer questions about the show, bullying, and the research being done with the MI-YVPC. A study guide was written by YES research assistant Colette McAfee to go along with the play and can also be implemented in school settings. Read more about the project and the study guide on the Michigan YVPC blog.
