Post-Doctoral Fellow

Dr. Caruso is a postdoctoral research fellow who leverages her experience as a former K–12 health teacher in the Bronx to enhance school safety research. Her work focuses on school-based trauma, teacher well-being, and school violence prevention. With experience in mixed methods data collection, narrative inquiry, program evaluation, nonprofit development, and social emotional learning, she brings a teacher’s perspective to every aspect of her work. Currently, Dr. Caruso teaches graduate courses that prepare pre-service health teachers to integrate comprehensive health education with effective violence prevention and safety strategies in schools. She recently earned her Ed.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Briana Scott has worked with the Prevention Research Collaborative since she was an SROP student in 2018. She has experience with evaluating school-based interventions and both quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Her areas of interest also include positive youth development and empowerment, school safety, and equity in education outcomes. Briana holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from St. Norbert College and a Master of Science in Psychology from the University of Michigan.
